This is a love letter to all of the talented hands who helped bring the cubano to life. The hands that cured the pork that becomes the salty, smokey ham. The bakers who kneaded the dough and offered it patience to rise. The vegetable farmers who sowed the soil for the cucumbers who would some day become pickles, and the seeds of the mustard plant that would one day become a yellowy, creamy zest. We are grateful for every person who has given their talent to the creation of this humble, delicious sandwich. We’ll be so glad to welcome you and share this wonderful food with you.

Bringing Authentic Cuban0 Sandwiches to the queen city

Marrying iconic flavors from all across the world into one delicious sandwich

If you’re a cigar aficionado, you might have heard of a chacabana shirt. Folklorists and historians believe that the chabacana – as it is known in the Dominican Republic – was first made in the southeastern Dominican city of Bani as a lighter, cooler take on the traditional military shirt.

Today, it’s popular in many cultures and its multiple pockets are often used as safekeeping for to-be-smoked cigars.

Chacabanas, our restaurant, was named as an homage to the Dominican and Cuban cultures we love. The food (especially the Cubanos), the people, and the cigars are an important part of our story and we’re excited to share this love with Cincinnati.
